The daily decline in Test Positivity Rate is varying from 0.5%-1%. On Monday, State Health Director Dr. Bijay Mohapatra informed that Odisha is currently in progressive stage as the TPR is decreasing. He was optimistic that we might reach an acceptable TPR within a week or 10 days. Moreover, the Health Director also informed that the medications for Covid-19 patients that were administered were based on international studies and are likely to change or dropped as per the recommendations of the National Task Force.

Odisha Health Director, Dr. Bijay Mohapatra said, The Covid Positivity rate is decreasing by 0.5% - 1%. We are in a progressive stage. The daily positivity rate is decreasing. This is a reassuring. We hope that we would reach an acceptable positivity rate in a week or 10 days. I have said this numerous times. Till date, more than 60% people have been in ICU and ventilator. The period of stay of these patients depending on their seriousness could be 10 days, 15 days, some stay for 20 days, while some for a month.

We need to understand that the ICU patients are serious and it takes time for their health to stabilise. However, if we see the progressive case fatality rate, we will be able to know the fatality rate from the time of admission. There has not been any treatment for Covid-19. The other complications related to Covid is decrease in oxygenation- to increase that and to decrease the inflammation, there was a need for steroid and oxygen.

All other medications being provided were administered based on random studies that were conducted in the international level. We adopted those medications. Slowly we observed over a period of time about the effectiveness of different medications. But, whatever medications are approved by the National task force we will also adopt those.
