With the pandemic not relenting, the entire state was forced to adopt online teaching and learning through YouTube live streaming classes. However, the struggle of students in remote areas and their experience of online classes has brought to the fore a huge difference between the plans of the government and the on-ground situation.
A look at these students from the remote Taralsingh village in R Udayagiri Block of Gajapati district tells the tale. Poor internet connectivity and lack of any other decent technology, has forced these kids to build a temporary bench on the roadside where all of them are sitting together to attend online classes.
A few were also seen engaging in group studies due to lack of mobile phones. The problem doesn't end there. Students often struggle with internet connectivity issues and a sudden spell of rain also disrupts the live session, severely hampering their studies.
