In times of Covid, a lot of emphasis is being laid on boosting immunity. And if our favourite Pakhala serves that purpose, then there is nothing like it. Yes, Pakhala has immunity boosting qualities. This is what, additional professor of biochemistry at Bhubaneswar AIIMS, Balamurugan Ramadass has found out. In his study, he took 20 different types of fermented Pakhalas & Torani (liquid residue of water rice) to conduct research on them.

His research has revealed that Pakhala contains beneficial fatty acids. According to his research findings, Pakhala can be nutritious and beneficial for pregnant women. His research has also concluded that the Pakahala Torani can help tackle malnutrition.
