As protests continue over the murder of lady teacher from Bolangir, Mamita Meher, the victim’s father has demanded death sentence for the accused. After the Chairperson of Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW), Minati Behera visited the victim’s family in Bolangir on Saturday, Mamita’s father said that they have demanded stern action against the culprit.
With the death of their only son, Suresh’s family have been left to fend for themselves as he was the sole breadwinner for the family.
The police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd with mild lathicharge. Later, Hindu activists staged a protest near the circle and urged that they should be allowed to install the flex of Veer Savarkar.
The deceased officer has been identified as Dibyaranjan Mishra, a resident of Santipada in Bolangir district who worked as an agriculture officer with the Punjab National Bank’s Barpali branch.
When asked the reason behind the repeated suicide attempts by the youth, his family members were not able to clarify the reasons.
