Explosion at Police station in Odisha: Sub-Inspector Suspended

A sub-inspector has been suspended for negligence in duty in connection with the explosion at Balanga Police Station in Puri district. Sub-Inspector Tapoi Nayak, who was in charge of the ‘Malkhana’ of the police station, was suspended by the Puri SP, Kanwar Vishal Singh for dereliction of duty.

Earlier on Monday (September 27) night, a massive explosion rocked Balanga Police Station. The impact of the explosion was such that the entire office building was reduced to rubble. Almost all the office items, documents, electronics and mobile tower were completely destroyed in the explosion.

According to sources, a huge cache of seized explosives kept inside the ‘Malkhana’ of the police station had triggered the explosion. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported due to the incident.
