After the sensational death of Chittaranjan Palai, close aide of Deputy Chairperson of Odisha Planning Board and senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma, the Odisha Crime Branch ADG, Sanjeev Panda reached Puri SP office on Saturday (Dec 18) to review the investigation.
The Crime Branch ADG discussed the case with Puri SP and also visited the crime spot for further investigation. Reports also informed that the statements of eye-witnesses have been recorded and the case is being investigated from all angles.
Victim Chittaranjan Palai had gone missing last Saturday night (Dec 11) after attending a feast hosted by another aide of Dasburma, identified as Jagannath Sarangi alias Jaga at Matiapada in Puri. However, on Monday (Dec 13), his body was found at Nuanai near Puri.
In a tweet, the Vigilance Directorate wrote, “Odisha Vigilance is committed to take strong action against bribe takers and their facilitators. Remember, you aren't safe when taking bribe through PhonePe. We will follow the digital footprints and come after you.”
The accused, Sahil, who is also a resident of JJ Colony in the area, reportedly stabbed the girl more than 20 times and also hit her with a boulder.
Some villagers first spotted Bhaskar’s body hanging from a tree a few yards from his house and immediately informed his family members.
As per reports, the accused, identified as Chandan Mahana had married Tanmayi last year. It was 20 days back the couple was blessed with a girl child.
