Amid surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state, curbs return to the silk city for Thakurani Jatra. General darshan of Maa Budhi Thakurani in Bada Bazaar area of Berhampur has been prohibited. The Ganjam district administration on Monday prohibited the general darshan of Maa Budhi Thakurani after two priests were tested positive for Covid-19.

As per reports, devotees will not be allowed for darshan of the Goddess at her temporary abode till the end of the biennial jatra which will conclude in Berhampur of April 16. However, the district administration has decided to make facilities for virtual darshan of the Goddess, due to the ongoing restrictions.

At a time, only 10 people including Jatra committee authorities and pujaks will be allowed at the mandap of Maa Budhi Thakurani. Barricades have been installed on all four sides of the mandap.
