Odisha may get another AIIMS soon! The Odisha government has requested the Centre for establishment of a second AIIMS in the State in Sundargarh district.
Chief Secretary of Odisha Asit Tripathy wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare proposing the idea. Citing the example of Bihar, where a second AIIMS was recently approved, Odisha government has proposed the idea in view of the health care requirements of the state. Odisha government has proposed that the second AIIMS may be considered for Western Odisha in the district of Sundargarh.
