Tiwari wrote that the journey began at Rs 2.6 LPA as a fresher. After around 16 months, growth slowed despite valuable experience, prompting the first switch to Rs 3.4 LPA and then quickly to Rs 7.2 LPA in a product-based role with stronger coding standards. The next move took the salary to Rs 15.5 LPA, where he managed services end-to-end.

Climbing the Ladder

Subsequent switches reflected increasing responsibility. A jump to Rs 30 LPA involved handling scale challenges and production issues. The next move to Rs 48 LPA came with broader duties, mentoring juniors, and contributing to design discussions. The fifth switch elevated him to Rs 85 LPA in a remote US-based role offering a base salary plus performance bonus.

“Skills compound over time. But salary jumps often come when you switch smartly,” Tiwari concluded.

Internet Divided

The post, which has garnered over 42,000 views, drew mixed reactions. Some praised the strategy, noting that each jump followed greater ownership rather than just experience. Others cautioned about market risks, while a few expressed curiosity about take-home pay.

The story has reignited conversations around career mobility, showing how strategic switches and expanding responsibilities can significantly reshape earning potential.
