A gang allegedly running a bizarre “pregnancy offer” scam in Bihar’s Nalanda district has been busted following a police investigation, media reports said. The accused are suspected of luring men with promises of hefty payouts and luxury gifts, only to dupe them through registration and security fee collections.

According to regional media outlets, the racket had been operating for a considerable period. Locals claimed the group functioned from a building that appeared modest from the outside but had a lavishly furnished interior, possibly to create an impression of legitimacy.
Viral Video Circulated for Months
The crackdown comes months after a sensational video began circulating widely on social media.
In the clip, a woman is heard saying, “Whoever makes me pregnant will be gifted a car and a 2BHK flat. Apart from the fixed payment of ₹25-30 lakh, there will be extra money based on good looks. The more handsome the candidate, the more money he will get. Religion, caste, and colour do not matter - the person just needs to be good-looking.”
While the ₹25-30 lakh payout, car and flat are claims made in the viral video itself, police statements reported in the media have primarily confirmed that the scam involved false promises of large payments. However, there was no obligation of marriage.
How the Alleged Fraud Worked
Investigators suspect that once individuals expressed interest, they were allegedly asked to deposit registration fees, security amounts and GST charges ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. After payments were made, communication reportedly stopped.

Cybercrime officials have repeatedly warned that schemes demanding upfront payments in exchange for extraordinary financial rewards are classic fraud indicators.
Authorities have urged citizens to verify such offers and report suspicious activity through official cybercrime channels. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited from law enforcement authorities.
