In 2017, as many as 57 teachers from different districts were chosen to be honoured at state-level felicitation ceremony which was supposed to be held on September 5, 2018 in Bhubaneswar to mark Teachers’ Day.

Among the felicitated teachers was Ishwar Chandra Nayak from Odisha. He presently serves at Kanapur Primary School under Sagada Panchayat of Nimapara area. 

The President was addressing the gathering at National Teachers Awards ceremony where she recalled the contribution of her school teachers due to which she became the first girl from her village to go to college.

The cow shed at Jatiparilo village in Cuttack district’s Mahanga block is not the one like the others. It has seen its golden days, a cradle for many who are now holding respected posts in the State, nation and different parts of the world as well. 

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday honoured 44 teachers with National Award in recognition of their contribution to the society.

These teachers-turned-politicians, in their own way shaped the politics of Uttar Pradesh in the past three decades – whether it was ‘Mandal' or ‘Kamandal'—and pushed a national party like the Congress out of the political centre-stage in the state.
