Every year, the traditional boat makers of Jaleswarpur, Mahanga block of Cuttack wait for this festive eve to showcase their unique craftsmanship and make thousands of miniature boats for the devotees.

A huge boat was sailed on the occasion of Kartika Purnima. These visuals are from Odisha’s Balasore district. Devotees sailed this boat as part of Boita Bandana ritual.

On Kartika Purnima, a usually large number of people across the state congregate at river ghats or near other water bodies to take bath in the wee hours and sail miniature boats with lamps and crackers as the festival is known as ‘Boita Bandana’.
