Indian stormed into the final of the Women’s World Cup by scripting one of the most remarkable victories against Australia in the second semifinal at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.

Chasing a daunting target of 339 against Australia, India sealed the victory by five wickets. It is their highest successful run chase ever in any World Cup.

Jemimah Rodrigues, who played a career-defining innings, was left speechless and overcome with emotion after guiding India home with an unbeaten 127 off 134 balls.

Despite late wickets, India held their nerve to cross the line. Deepti Sharma (24) and Richa Ghosh (26) made valuable contributions in the middle order. 

Earlier, Australia posted a formidable 338, powered by opener Phoebe Litchfield’s 119 off 93 balls. 

With this fighting victory, India have booked their place in the Women’s World Cup final, where they will face South Africa on Sunday.
