Sharjah: Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 23rd IPL 2020 match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday failed to chase the target of 185 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC). DC won by 46 runs dismissing all the 10 wickets of RR in 19.4 overs. RR could score only 138 runs.

RR won the toss and chose to bowl against DC. RR restricted DC at 184 runs in the first innings, however, RR failed to chase the victory target of 185 runs.

R Ashwin had struck in his first over by dismissing Jos Buttler to peg Rajasthan Royals back in the chase. Stoinis dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson after Anrich Nortje got the big wicket of Steve Smith to break the stand between the RR captain and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel struck to leave Delhi Capitals gasping for breath.

Rahul Tewatia scored 38 runs in 29 runs, while Yashasvi scored 34 runs of 36 balls and Steve Smith scored only 24 runs in 17 balls.

Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets sparing 35 runs. Stoinis took 2 wickets sparing 17 runs and Ashwin took 2 wickets sparing 22 runs.

Jofra Archer (3/24) led the way as Rajasthan Royals (RR) restricted Delhi Capitals (DC) to 184/8 in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League here on Friday.

Shreyas Iyer was run out for 22 after Jofra Archer dismissed Shikhar Dhawan in his first over and then stopped a rampaging Prithvi Shaw on his tracks. Dhawan had scored 5 runs while Prithvi collected 19 runs. Kartik Tyagi dismissed Shimron Hetmyer (45) before he could score his fifty. Axar Patel also was dismissed at 17 runs, while Harsh Patel was dismissed at 16 runs. The team could manage to score only 184 runs at a loss of 8 wickets.

It was the first time this season that a team batting first in Sharjah did not score more than 200 runs.

RR managed to dismiss DC's dangerous top order within the powerplay. Rishabh Pant (5) was run out after a bizarre mix-up with Marcus Stoinis (39) following which the latter combined with Shimron Hetmyer (45) to provide an impetus to the DC innings.

Hetmyer ended up being the highest scorer for DC, hitting five sixes and a four before falling to Kartik Tyagi (1/35) five runs short of his half-century.
