Abu Dhabi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a horrific start in reply to Mumbai Indian’s (MI) 193/4. Rohit Sharma took the final catch as Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan by 57 runs with 11 balls to spare. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav's 79 runs, that had a major contribution to the total score of MI, bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, James Pattinson and Trent Boult had a commendable contribution in scripting their team's victory against RR.
MI bowler Jasprit Bumrah outshined on the field today and with his stunning performance, he shattered all hopes of Rajasthan Royals. Bumrah took 4 wickets sparing 20 runs. Besides Bumrah, James Pattinson (2/19) and Trent Boult(2/26) scalped 2 wickets apiece while Rahul Chahar (1/24) and Kieron Pollard (1/24) settled one wicket each.
Trent Boult scalped the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson in his first two overs. Both the batsmen were out for a duck. RR skipper Steve Smith (6) fell to Jasprit Bumrah in the second over of the innings.
Suryakumar Yadav scored his first fifty in IPL 2020 to guide Mumbai Indians to 193/4. He remained unbeaten on 79 runs and was perfectly backed by Hardik Pandya who scored 30 runs off 19 balls and remained unbeaten.
The 30-year-old batsman hit 11 fours and two sixes, one of which was off Jofra Archer after he was hit in the head by a bouncer off the previous delivery by the English bowler.
Though Jos Buttler scored 70 runs in 44 balls and Jofra Archer contributed 24 runs in 11 balls, the team failed miserably. With this loss in the 20th IPL match, poor show of Rajasthan Royals continues.
MI were buoyed by a good start provided by openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock before the latter became Kartik Tyagi's debut IPL wicket in the fifth over. The opening partnership produced 49 runs.
Suryakumar then anchored the innings but MI kept losing wickets at the other end. Hardik Pandya, however, stuck with him and the pair blazed 76 runs in just 38 balls to propel MI close to the 200-run mark.
MI Skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat ahead of their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. With the early departure of Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma, MI scored 193 runs at a loss of 4 wickets.
