Sharjah: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) clinched victory from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 46th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. KXIP won the match by 8 wickets. A long-standing partnership of Mandeep Singh and Chris Gayle helped KXIP to clinch its victory with 7 balls left. KXIP was chasing a target score of 149 runs to win.

KXIP skipper KL Rahul entered the arena with Mandeep Singh. The duo had a good start in the 2nd innings of the match.

At the end of the powerplay, KXIP were at 36. Rahul had scored 18 runs while Mandeep scored 16 runs.

However, Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Rahul in the 8th over. Rahul scored 28 runs off 24 balls.

At the halfway mark, KXIP were at 67 runs at the loss of one wicket. A standing partnership of Mandeep and Chris Gayle helped KXIP to post 100 runs in the 14th over. The duo scored a 50-run partnership quickly after the dismissal of Rahul.

By the end of 15 overs, KXIP was at 113 runs with Mandeep at 44 runs off 44 deliveries and Gayle at 38 runs off 20 balls.

Mandeep scored his fifty in the 16th over off 49 deliveries.

Next, it was Gayle who scored his fifty in 25 deliveries with five sixes and two boundaries. Gayle recorded his fifty in the 17th over.

However, Gayle scored 51 runs off 28 deliveries and was dismissed in the 18th over. Lockie Ferguson took the big wicket.

Mandeep scored 66 runs off 56 balls and remained unbeaten while Pooran scored 2 runs. The long-standing partnership of Mandeep and Gayle helped KXIP to clinch victory by 8 wickets from KKR.

KKR opening batsman Shubman Gill returned to form with a half-century, but (KXIP) restricted KKR to 149 for nine wickets in 20 overs.

Gill scored 57 runs off 45 balls and shared an 81-run partnership with Eoin Morgan. Morgan scored 40 runs off 25 balls while Lockie Ferguson hammered a 13-ball 24 to lead the total score to 149 runs.

Mohammed Shami was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 35. Earlier in the match, his two wickets had reduced KKR to 10 for three. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi picked 2/20 and Chris Jordan took 2/25.

Earlier, KXIP won the toss and elected to bowl against KKR.
