Sharjah: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) won the toss and elected to bowl in the 46th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) here on Monday. Though Shubman Gill had a long-stand in the innings, he could score only 57 runs. KXIP restricted KKR to 149 runs taking 9 wickets. KXIP needs 150 runs to win the match.

Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill were the openers to KKR. However, in the 2nd ball of the first over, Glenn Maxwell dismissed Nitish. The early departure of the opener without scoring a run was a big blow to KKR.

Next, it was Rahul Tripathi who departed scoring 7 runs off 3 balls. Mohammed Shami took the wicket in the fourth ball of the second over. Striking back again in the same over, Shami dismissed Dinesh Karthik in the last ball.

By the end of the powerplay, KKR was 54 at a loss of 3 wickets.

In the 10 over, KKR got a big jolt with the dismissal of Eoin Morgan. Ravi Bishnoi took the big wicket.

By the mid of the game, KKR scored 92 runs at a loss of 4 wickets.

Next, it was Sunil Narine who departed in the 11th over scoring only 6 runs. Chris Jordan dismissed him

Meanwhile, Shubman scored a fifty in the 15th over. But, Kamlesh Nagarkoti also departed in the same over scoring only 6 runs. Murugan Ashwin clean bowled Kamlesh.

The next over, Pat Cummins departed scoring only one run off 7 balls. Bishnoi took the big wicket.

In the 19th over, Shami dismissed Shubman. Shubman could score 57 runs off 44 balls while KKR's total score stood at 136 runs.

In the last over, Jordan dismissed Varun Chakravarthy.

Lockie Ferguson scored 24 runs off 13 balls and remained unbeaten.

KXIP are placed fifth with 10 points after 11 games while KKR are placed fourth with 12 points in the same number of games.

Both teams remained unchanged. While Mayank Agarwal was left out of KXIP team again, Andre Russell too continues to warm the bench for KKR.
