Abu Dhabi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their final league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Sunday. Unbeaten Ruturaj Gaikwad's 62 runs and Faf du Plessis's 48 runs helped CSK to clinch victory in the match. CSK won the match by 9 wickets.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis were the openers of CSK. Both the batsmen had a good start and continued with a steady partnership.

Ruturaj and du Plessis had a solid 50-run partnership and post 57 runs by the end of the powerplay. Ruturaj scored 17 runs off 18 deliveries while du Plessis scored 31 runs off 18 balls.

In the halfway, the duo pulled CSK's total score to 82 runs.

However, before scoring his half-century, du Plessis departed scoring 48 runs off 33 balls. Chris Jordan took the big wicket in the 10th over.

Ruturaj and Ambati Rayudu took their team's total score to the next level with a steady partnership.

Ruturaj scored his half-century in the 16th over taking the team's total score to 129. By the end of 16th over, CSK was 130/1 with Ruturaj at 52 and Rayudu at 20. With this half-century, Ruturaj recorded his third consecutive half-centuries in the league.

Ruturaj remained unbeaten at 62 while Rayudu remained unbeaten at 30. The duo scored 154 runs clinching victory from KXIP with 7 balls left.

Deepak Hooda cracked an unbeaten 62 off 30 balls to take Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a competitive 153/6 in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium here.

It is the first time since his debut season in 2015 that Hooda has managed a half century in the IPL.

Hooda, 25, walked in after Chris Gayle's dismissal left KXIP tottering at 72/4 in the 12th over. He went on the attack straightaway, scoring most of the runs in a 36-run stand with Mandeep Singh for the fifth wicket.

It was the second highest stand at the time for KXIP after the opening partnership of 48 between captain KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.

Mandeep soon fell to Ravindra Jadeja and James Neesham was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi after which Chris Jordan stuck on with Hooda.

The pair put up 40 runs for the seventh wicket, 34 off which was scored by Hooda off just 12 balls. He hit three fours and four sixes in his innings.

Earlier, CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field against KXIP.
