Abu Dhabi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their final league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Sunday. CSK restricted KXIP to 153 runs at a loss of 6 wickets.

KXIP skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were the opening pairs for KXIP. The duo had a good start.

Steady partnership of the openers took the total score of their team to 53 runs by the end of the powerplay. However, Mayank departed in the midway scoring 26 runs. Lungi Ngidi took the first wicket in the 6th over's 2nd ball.

Following the fall of first wicket, Ngidi once again gave a big blow to KXIP dismissing Rahul in the 9th over. Rahul could score only 26 runs off 26 balls.

With fall of 2 wickets, KXIP was at 64 in the halfway of the innings.

All eyes were on Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran, but the duo failed to meet the expectations. Pooran departed in the 11th over scoring only two runs, Shardul Thakur took the big wicket. Next, it was Gayle who departed in the 12th over in Imran Tahir's over. Gayle could score only 12 runs off 19 balls.

Next, it was Mandeep Singh who departed in the 17th over. Ravindra Jadeja bowled him while he could score only 14 runs off 14 deliveries.

Though Deepak Hooda took a stand for little longer, the other batsmen were not able to stand with him. Ngidi took his 3rd wicket in the innings dismissing James Neesham in the first ball of 18th over. James scored only 2 runs.

By the end of 18th over, KXIP was 129/6 with Deepak at 43 and Chris Jordan at zero runs.

However, in the 19th over, while the spirits and hopes of KXIP fans were going down, Deepak scored his half-century which was his 2nd in IPL.

Ending the innings, Deepak remained unbeaten at 62 runs off 30 deliveries while Jordan scored 4 off 5 balls and remained unbeaten. Deepak's unbeaten half-century helped KXIP to score 153 runs in the 20 overs.

CSK have made three changes to the team which last featured against Kolkata Knight Riders. They have brought in Faf du Plessis, Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir for Shane Watson, Karn Sharma and Mitchell Santner.

Kings XI have also made two changes: Mayank Agarwal and James Neesham come in for Arshdeep Singh and Glenn Maxwell.
