The festive buzz is back after a gap of two years. A large number of people gathered at Jama Masjid in Bhubaneswar today (May 3) to offer special prayers, the Namaz of Eid.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month when Muslims across the world observe fast from dawn to dusk.
Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in the month of Shawwal. On this day, they congregate at mosques, and pray for their well-being and progress.
While in the last two years people offered prayers mostly at home, this time special arrangements were made at the mosque for the celebration. Tents were put up so that they could offer prayers in the shade. Several other mosques shifted the Namaz timings, keeping in mind the scorching weather.
Kids greeted and hugged each other after the Namaz and savoured their favourite delicacies.
This year, the festival across India is celebrated in a grand way as people were able to meet their close relatives and friends for offering Eid prayers.
