Suspended Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Shreemayee Mishra launched a sharp attack on Wednesday on the leaders who once proudly claimed to be inspired by Biju Patnaik’s ideology.

In a strongly worded social-media post, Shreemayee questioned why those who boasted of working in politics since Biju Babu’s time are now silent when the party is going through a severe crisis.
Shreemayee even asked why leaders within the party created in Biju Babu’s name should compromise their self-respect and principles. “What new fear has gripped you (the party leadership) now?” she wrote, pointing to their unwillingness to speak up despite the BJD’s deteriorating condition.
The woman leader also challenged whether adopting “Tamil-style practices” aligns with the principles of Biju Patnaik. Referring to the 2024 General Elections, she noted that Biju Babu’s image was removed from the party’s banner meant for election campaign, after which “BJD-led government was ousted.”
Shreemayee questioned why, even now, leaders continue to choose silence and compromise. Her remarks, posted on social media, have triggered renewed debate over BJD’s direction and its commitment to carrying forward the legacy of Biju Patnaik.
However, the BJD has not yet responded to Shreemayee’s remarks.
Worth mentioning, earlier on November 14 and in a new twist to Nuapada’s political trend, Shreemayee had once again launched a sharp attack on the BJD.
Without naming the party directly, Shreemayee had posted on social media, “A pathetic defeat is certain,” alleging that those who humiliate women have tarnished the image of so-called “Golden or Subarna Lanka” (referring to the epic Ramayana).
Shreemayee had even drawn parallels to the downfall of ancient dynasties, claiming that Odisha’s leading political force has been given a strong message by women voters.
Soon after Shreemayee’s post, another BJD leader, Elina Dash, had also taken to social media to aim fresh criticism—this time targeting her own party’s leadership.
