In a new twist to Nuapada’s political trend, Shreemayee Mishra once again launched a sharp attack on the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday.

Without naming the party directly, Shreemayee posted on social media, “A pathetic defeat is certain,” alleging that those who humiliate women have tarnished the image of the so-called “Golden or Subarna Lanka” (referring to the epic Ramayana).

Shreemayee even drew parallels to the downfall of ancient dynasties, claiming that Odisha’s leading political force has been given a strong message by women voters. The BJD has not yet responded to her remarks.

Soon after Shreemayee’s post, another BJD leader, Elina Dash, also took to social media to aim fresh criticism—this time targeting her own party’s leadership.

Sharing a photograph of BJD leaders, Elina questioned the sudden excitement and displays of public camaraderie, asking whether such gestures were meant to secure victory or to mask impending loss.

Elina alleged that a celebrated public figure (perhaps she meant the party supremo Naveen Patnaik) was pushed into hectic campaigning merely to protect the political survival of a few, turning him into an object of ridicule.

BJD leader Dash further questioned what the party gained by subjecting that particular man to mental and physical pressure.

Worth mentioning, earlier yesterday, Shreemayee Mishra had launched a sharp attack on the BJD —also without directly naming the party.

Just ahead of the Nuapada bypoll results, Shreemayee took to social media to criticise what she described as the ‘copy-paste politics’ of BJD leaders, alleging that they were following a pre-written script.

In her post, Shreemayee wrote, a ‘new trend’ has emerged, where several political leaders are repeating the same line — “the election was not ‘free and fair’.” She remarked, “For the past two days, everyone has been reading from the same script. I want to know where this script came from, who wrote it first, and who the real mastermind is.”
