The hanging body of a female student was recovered from Mahabir Colony under Jajpur Road police limits in Odisha on Thursday. Police said the incident is suspected to be a case of suicide, though investigations are still underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

According to police, the deceased was a first-year +3 student of Vyasanagar Autonomous College and was staying in a rented accommodation in the area. On receiving information about the incident, Jajpur Road police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and completed the initial legal formalities. The body was subsequently recovered and sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Preliminary Findings Point To Mental Stress

Preliminary inquiry suggests that the student may have been under mental stress. Police sources indicated that she was anxious over examinations and is suspected to have taken the extreme step late on Wednesday night. No suicide note was mentioned at the time of reporting, and officials were examining all relevant aspects as part of the investigation.

Police Begin Detailed Probe

Police officials said a detailed investigation has been initiated to establish the sequence of events leading to the death. Statements from people associated with the student and other relevant evidence are being collected. Authorities stated that further details would emerge after the post-mortem examination and completion of the investigation.
