A student was found hanging inside the bathroom of a private college near Chotaraypur in Odisha's Jajpur district on Saturday morning, leading to tension in the college and hostel premises. Family members of the deceased, along with local residents, staged a protest alleging foul play in the incident.

According to reports, the college authorities searched for the student after he was found missing. Later, they discovered him hanging inside the hostel bathroom. He was immediately taken to a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jajpur, where doctors declared him dead. The family alleged that the college authorities had informed them that the student was unwell and asked them to come to the hospital, but did not reveal that he had already passed away.

Family Alleges Foul Play

As per reports, when the family arrived and found the student dead, unrest broke out at the hospital. The family members and villagers accused the college authorities of concealing information and alleged that the student had been murdered. They also stated that he was academically strong and mentally stable, dismissing the possibility of self-harm.

Protest And Police Clash

Following the incident, the student’s family members and villagers demonstrated outside the hospital, leading to a scuffle with police personnel. Reports indicate that no statement could be obtained from the college authorities or students, as most remained inside the hostel. It was also reported that no food was cooked in the hostel on Saturday at the time of reporting.

Investigation Underway

Police from Panikoili reached the spot and recovered the body, which was later sent to Danagadi Medical for post-mortem examination, reportedly. A forensic team was assigned to assist with the investigation. Police stated that the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is received. The college authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.
