Semiliguda recorded 8.6°C, Korei 9.3°C, and Daringbadi 9.5°C, official sources said on Thursday.
The State Capital, Bhubaneswar, registered a comparatively milder winter chill at 13.5°C, while Cuttack recorded the minimum (night) temperature at 13.4°C. This dip is part of the seasonal cold wave affecting interior Odisha, and residents are advised to take precautions, especially early morning and late evening.
Such low temperatures can affect daily activities, agriculture, and health, particularly for children and elderly persons. Citizens were recommended to stay warm and follow necessary health guidelines during the chilly spell.
In its evening bulletin, the IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar mentioned, “The Minimum (night) temperature is very likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C during the next two days and then gradually rise by 2°C to 3°C during the subsequent five days over the districts of Odisha.”
Besides, the Deep Depression over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka coast moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 17 kmph during the past six hours, and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today over the same region.
It is very likely to continue to move nearly north-northwestwards across southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next three hours.
Thereafter, it is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards across southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka coast towards North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during the subsequent 48 hours.
