Odisha cold wave: Bhubaneswar records coldest November night in 25 years

Capital city Bhubaneswar witnessed bone-chilling conditions as the minimum temperature dropped to 12.9 Degree C, marking the coldest November night in 25 years.

A biting cold wave has gripped Odisha, with temperatures dipping sharply across the state. Capital city Bhubaneswar witnessed bone-chilling conditions as the minimum temperature dropped to 12.9 Degree C, marking the coldest November night in 25 years.

The previous night, at 13 Degree C, stood as the second-coldest this month, said weather expert Umasankar Das.

Bhubaneswar has been on a steady downward trend for three days, with early morning readings touching 14.8 Degree C, down from 16 Degree C on November 14.

Coastal belts, typically buffered from sharp temperature dips, are also witnessing conditions 3 Degree C to 5 Degree C below the seasonal average.

29th November 2009: 13.5°C

25th November 2018: 13.6°C

26th November 2017: 13.7°C

According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave is expected to continue for the next 2–3 days, with no major change in the night temperature during this period. A slight rise of 2–3 Degree C is likely thereafter.

Jharsuguda Coldest Location on November 16

Jharsuguda emerged as the coldest location in Odisha on Sunday, recording a minimum temperature of 9.8 Degree C. 

Rourkela logged 10 Degree C, Keonjhar 11 Degree C, Sambalpur 13.4 Degree C.

Similarly, Chandbali and Hirakud registered 15 Degree C each.

Meanwhile, weather officials have advised people to take necessary precautions as winter conditions are set to persist across Odisha.
