The accused male teacher, identified as Surya Narayan Nahak of Balichhai Upper Primary (UP) School, reportedly kept an inappropriate eye on female students not only at school but also during tuition sessions.
According to local sources, the teacher had called a girl student into a room and attempted to forcibly hug her. He also allegedly instructed another girl to record the scene on her mobile phone.
On learning about the incident, angry parents and villagers stormed the school premises and beat the accused teacher severely.
Police later rescued the teacher from the school campus and took him into custody. A formal complaint has been lodged at the local police station.
Meanwhile, the headmaster of the school has stated that the matter will be placed before the higher authorities in education for departmental action. A detailed probe into the alleged misbehaviour is underway.
“The teacher (Surya Narayan) has misbehaved with my daughter. Hence, I, along with other villagers, have come to the police station to lodge a complaint. He had called her to a room and behaved inappropriately with her and asked another student to capture the scene on a mobile phone,” the victim girl’s mother said to mediapersons.
“He used to tell love-related things to the girl. The incident had occurred nearly a week ago. After she recently narrated the matter before my family at home, I enquired about it with the teacher. Irked with this, the teacher beat my daughter,” the woman alleged.
“When I sought clarifications from the teacher, he told me that my daughter is mischievous; hence, she was punished,” the girl’s mother expressed at the police station.
