Another case of workplace harassment surfaced after, Pradipta Das, the Principal of Paramananda College in Bolagarh, Khordha, has been arrested following allegations of harassment against a newly appointed Chemistry teacher. The teacher’s father lodged a complaint after receiving disturbing information about repeated phone calls, obscene messages, and requests for video calls from the principal. The teacher had joined the college last year, and the alleged incidents reportedly caused significant distress to her.
Complaint and Arrest
The teacher’s father reported the matter to the Bolagarh Police Station on Tuesday. He provided evidence, including WhatsApp messages and recorded calls, which indicated the principal repeatedly contacted the teacher and made inappropriate advances. Based on this complaint, police conducted an investigation and arrested Pradipta Kumar Das. He was subsequently produced in court today.
Impact on College Community
The alleged harassment has reportedly created a tense environment in the college, with students expressing concern over the principal’s conduct. Teachers and staff have also highlighted the negative effects such behaviour can have on the learning atmosphere and student morale.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, and no comment has been received from the accused principal Pradipta Das. Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
