In a tragic turn of events, a woman involved in the Sambalpur job fraud case died after consuming poison.
The deceased, identified as Swarnaprabha Padhi from the Chiplima area in the district, passed away while undergoing treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.
According to reports, Swarnaprabha had collected around Rs 64 lakh from around 600 people, promising them jobs. She had handed over the collected money to the alleged masterminds of the fraud, Padmavati Tandi and Rahul Ray. The duo had reportedly taken money from job seekers under the pretext of providing sanitation worker positions.
After the main accused, Padmavati and Rahul were arrested, several victims surrounded Swarnaprabha’s house in Chipilima, demanding the return of their money. Coming under immense pressure and unable to find a way out, she allegedly consumed poison on October 24.

Swarnaprabha was reportedly working as a supervisor in a fake organisation that was allegedly set up to cheat aspirants seeking employment. She allegedly collected money from various aspirants and handed the amount over to the accused duo. The organisation is said to have defrauded candidates of around Rs 64 lakh by promising them positions as sweepers.
According to reports, the mastermind duo had deployed several people to collect money from aspirants by promising posts like area manager and supervisor.
