In a major breakthrough, two accused were arrested from Dhanbad in Jharkhand on Saturday in connection with the robbery case at the Bank of Maharashtra branch at Barbil in Keonjhar.
As per reports, the robbers were brought to Barbil today. The arrested accused have been identified as Raja Kumar Singh and Munal Raj Verma, both residents of Dhanbad
After being brought to the town, the police paraded the accused on foot from near the SDPO office to the Bank of Maharashtra branch and for some distance beyond.
The police have seized 288 grams of gold, two Scorpio vehicles and four mobile phones from the accused. However, six more suspects involved in the robbery are still absconding. Police suspect that the remaining accused may have fled from Jharkhand to Bihar.

The robbery took place on January 19, when miscreants looted gold ornaments weighing around six kilograms, valued at approximately Rs 5 crore, along with Rs 8 lakh in cash from the lockers of the bank. The accused had fled the scene on three motorcycles.
The Barbil SDPO said that operations are continuing to arrest the remaining accused involved in the case.
"Two accused have been arrested in connection with the robbery case at the Bank of Maharashtra branch on January 19. Around 288 grams of gold have been seized from them. Efforts are underway to arrest the other accused. Hopefully, they will be arrested soon," said Barbil SDPO Debendra Nath Pingua.
