Rescued elephant calf undergoing treatment at OUAT
Bhubaneswar: An elephant calf which was rescued from Hindol forest sub-division is being treated at Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the 8-month-old elephant calf was separated from the heard after it fell sick.
The elephant calf’s mouth is infected and it has high fever, sources revealed.
“The elephant calf was having trouble in breathing while it was lying on one side. Eye reflexes were very little when the calf was brought in here. We have started treatment with fluid therapy and antibiotics,” Veterinary doctor, Niranjan Sahoo said.
“The condition of the calf has improved slightly but it seems the infection has spread in its mouth,” Sahoo added.
