Diwali night turns into a spectacle of light and devotion
Odisha glowed in festive splendour as Diwali, the festival of lights, transformed the state into a radiant celebration of colour, devotion, and joy. From villages to bustling cities including twin cities of Cuttack & Bhubaneswar and the holy city of Puri, every corner shimmered with the warm glow of diyas and decorative lights, while the crackle of fireworks echoed through the night skies.
Houses and streets were adorned with colourful illumination, spreading cheer and symbolising the victory of light over darkness on this sacred Amavasya night.
In the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, however, the festivities unfolded under a watchful eye. The Commissionerate Police issued strict guidelines to ensure a safe and eco-friendly Diwali.

Residents were permitted to burst firecrackers only between 7 PM and 9 PM, striking a balance between tradition and environmental responsibility. Authorities warned that anyone violating the timing restrictions or using banned firecrackers would face stringent action.
Despite these curbs, the festive spirit remained undimmed. Families gathered to light diyas, exchange sweets, and offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity and peace.
The skyline of Odisha shimmered with dazzling lights and joy, as citizens embraced a celebration that blended happiness with awareness, a Diwali marked by devotion, safety, and shared responsibility.
