In a major breakthrough in the sensational Tarinigada incident, police have arrested two persons in connection with the death of a Plus III female student whose body was recovered earlier this week.
The accused have been identified as the victim’s male friend, Somanath Ojha, and a tenant, Shubham Singh. Cases have been registered against them on charges of abduction, rape and murder.
Although officials have not yet disclosed detailed findings, allegations have emerged that the student was sexually assaulted and later pushed from a rooftop in an attempt to kill her.
The victim’s blood-stained, semi-nude body was found beneath a four-storey building in the early hours of Monday. The gruesome discovery triggered widespread outrage in the area.
During a search of the building, police reportedly seized the victim’s undergarments, churidar, and mobile phone from the rooftop. Investigators suspect that the accused may have attempted to stage the incident as a suicide by deliberately placing the victim’s slippers on the terrace.
Despite the arrests, several aspects of the case remain unclear. Police said the investigation is ongoing and further details will be revealed after the forensic and post-mortem reports are examined.
