Kurupati Bhuyan, a known criminal with a history of contract killings, is believed to be the key hitman behind Panda’s murder. According to sources, Bhuyan was hired as part of a wider conspiracy that had been planned meticulously over several months. Earlier, police had arrested former BJD MLA Bikram Panda and 11 others. Later, Sunil Hota and Sudarshan Jena were also taken into custody for providing shelter and aiding the assassins.
