Pitabas Panda Murder Case: 15 accused produced in district court

In a significant development in the Pitabas Panda murder case, 15 accused, including former MLA Bikram Panda, were produced in the District Court for the framing of charges. 

However, one of the accused, Madan Dalei, was absent from the proceedings due to health issues and did not attend court in person. Following the framing of charges, the court will decide which court will continue to handle the case as it moves forward.

Fifteen of the 16 accused individuals, including high-profile figures such as former MLA Bikram Panda and ex-Mayor Pintu Das, were produced before the court. The case, which was earlier being heard in the SDJM court, was transferred to the District Court for further proceedings.

Chargesheet Presented

The police have filed an extensive chargesheet in the case, containing 1,666 pages of detailed information, along with over 25,000 pages of supporting documentation. This will form the basis for the framing of charges, which is expected to continue in the coming days.

High Security at the Court

The court hearing took place under high security, with former MLA Bikram Panda and Brahmapur Ex-Mayor Pintu Das being brought from Phulbani Jail. The remaining accused were also produced in court, marking a significant moment in this high-profile case.

The case involves the murder of Pitabas Panda, who was shot at point-blank range by hired gunmen on the night of October 6th, 2025, just 100 meters from his residence.

With the charge framing process underway, the case will now move into the next stages of legal proceedings. The court will continue to hear pleas from the accused as the District Court is expected to play a pivotal role in the resolution of this high-profile murder case.
