Patha Utsav kicks off in Bhubaneswar, city streets turn into cultural spaces

The grand Patha Utsav made its return to Bhubaneswar on Sunday, bringing a range of cultural and recreational activities to the city streets. The event began at Master Canteen, where residents gathered on a chilly morning to participate in and watch music and dance programmes held in the open. 

With streets temporarily converted into public activity zones, the festival once again aimed to encourage community engagement and promote outdoor cultural expression in the capital.

Cultural And Recreational Activities On Display

The festival showcased a wide variety of attractions catering to different age groups. Fashion shows, Zumba sessions, a dedicated kids’ zone, face painting, and traditional games drew steady footfall throughout the morning. Art and craft displays were also part of the event, adding a visual element to the celebrations.

Several performance-based programmes were organised as part of the schedule, including Bhubaneswar Got Talent, skating demonstrations, mehendi art, folk dance performances, yoga sessions, karate displays, and sketching activities. These programmes were held along the stretch to ensure continuous public participation and viewing.

Traffic Restrictions

In view of the Patha Utsav, traffic restrictions were imposed in parts of the city to ensure smooth conduct of the event and public safety. Vehicular movement was prohibited on the stretch from Master Canteen to Ram Mandir Square till 11 am on Sunday. The traffic police advised commuters to avoid this route during the restriction period and to use alternative roads.

Upcoming Patha Utsav Locations Announced

The authorities announced additional dates and locations for the Patha Utsav in the coming weeks. The event will be held at Jagamara on January 18, followed by another edition in the Infocity area on February 1.
