In a decisive move to decongest major roads in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police on Monday imposed strict no-parking restrictions across several key stretches of the city. The action comes after growing complaints of haphazard parking, which has been disrupting traffic flow and causing daily inconvenience to commuters.

The restrictions have been enforced under the provisions of the Odisha Urban Police (OUP) Act.

Crackdown on Unauthorised Parking

The city police observed that indiscriminate parking along main roads had become a persistent issue, particularly during peak hours. Vehicles left carelessly along busy routes were resulting in traffic snarls, slower movement, and increased risk of accidents. To address the situation, the Commissionerate Police has now clearly marked a series of no-parking corridors.

Key Stretches Where Parking Is Prohibited

Parking will now be strictly prohibited in the following major road stretches:

1.    Rajmahal to Jaydev Vihar via Kalarahanga
2.    Airport to Nalco Square via Acharya Vihar Square
3.    Shishu Bhavan Square to Rajmahal, Master Canteen to Vani Vihar
4.    Rasulgarh to Jaydev Vihar, and from Shreya to PHD Office
5.    Gopabandhu Square to Kalpana, and Kalarahanga Square to Nandankanan
6.    CRP Square to Unit-8 DAV School, and Fire Station to City College
7.    Khandagiri to Pokhariput, and Damana Square to Sailashree Vihar
8.    Xavier Square to Utkal Hospital via Sai Mandir Square

Authorities have warned that violations will result in hefty fines and towing of vehicles without prior notice.

With these new measures, the Commissionerate Police aims to create smoother traffic flow and safer travel conditions for Bhubaneswar’s residents. As the city continues to grow, compliance with traffic rules will be crucial in ensuring orderly movement and reducing daily congestion across key urban routes.
