Temperature began rising across Odisha even before the onset of peak summer, with several areas already recording above-normal readings.
The Meteorological Department indicated that the prevailing dry conditions are likely to continue, potentially leading to a further increase in heat levels in the coming days.
Dry Weather Conditions To Continue
According to the Regional Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar, there is currently no active weather system over the state. As a result, dry weather is expected to prevail in the immediate future. In the absence of any significant atmospheric disturbance, the intensity of the heat may increase further.
Meteorological data show that on Friday Jharsuguda recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, which was 3 degrees above normal. At present, mercury crossed 35 degrees Celsius at six places across the state.
Further Rise Likely Next Week
The Department forecasted a further rise of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in temperature during the coming week. Reports indicate that temperature is expected to climb further in the upcoming days if the current dry spell persists.
Local residents expressed concern over the early rise in temperature, particularly as the increase was noted even before the onset of Summer and during Spring. Sources indicated that there are apprehensions the summer season could turn out to be as intense as the winter experienced this year.
