The Crime Branch has decided to conduct a polygraph (lie detector) test on Shankar Prusty, the mastermind in the Odisha Police SI recruitment scam, after he allegedly failed to cooperate during the investigation.
According to officials, Prusty has been uncooperative with investigators, providing unsatisfactory answers to multiple questions. Even when presented with evidence, he reportedly misled officers and attempted to confuse the probe.
Shankar is currently in judicial remand, with his remand period set to expire on Saturday.
In a related development, Suresh Nayak, owner of Silicon Tech, will also undergo a lie detection test as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities said the tests aim to verify statements and gather clarity on key aspects of the case.
The Crime Branch is continuing its investigation into the allegations, which involve significant irregularities in the police SI recruitment process.
However, officials have not disclosed the exact timeline for the completion of the tests but confirmed that the process is part of a broader effort to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation.
Notably, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police arrested Prusty from Uttarakhand near the Indo-Nepal border on Saturday and brought him to Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
