Odisha Police sends fake police for investigation! Woman files complaint

In a shocking case that has brought disgrace to the police department, a woman, who had approached Bhadrak Rural Police seeking justice, was allegedly misled when a senior police officer sent a fake policeman to investigate her case.

The incident took place in Rasikabaz village under the Kalei Panchayat of Bhadrak Rural Police limits.

According to reports, the woman had filed a complaint against her husband, who had reportedly married five women. After several visits to the police station, her case was finally registered, and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was assigned to investigate. However, instead of visiting the scene himself, the ASI reportedly sent another young man posing as a police officer.

The accused impersonator even visited the complainant’s house in an official government vehicle and on a police motorcycle. Believing him to be a genuine officer, the woman initially cooperated with the so-called investigation.

However, her suspicion grew when the man demanded Rs 5,000 via PhonePe. She then informed the villagers, who detained the fake cop, bringing the entire incident to light.

The complainant, Sanjana Sahu, has alleged gross negligence and misconduct by the investigating officer.
Questions are now being raised: Who was this fake cop? Why did ASI Kartik Jena send him instead of going himself? What was their connection? And who authorised the use of a government vehicle for such illegal activities?

Following outrage, Bhadrak SP has suspended the ASI pending further investigation. Police have detained the impersonator, identified as Piyush Ranjan Panda, and initiated questioning. Additional SP Aroop Abhishek Behera confirmed that an internal inquiry has begun into the shocking misuse of police resources.
