Odisha Plus II girl student attacked outside college campus

A disturbing incident unfolded in Sanakhemundi block of Ganjam district, where a Plus II (+2) female student was allegedly attacked in front of a college in Pudamari on Thursday by a group of youths who are not associated with the institution.

The attack took place outside the premises, triggering panic among students and locals.

The injured girl was immediately rescued by some local residents and her classmates and rushed to Pudamari Primary Health Centre (PHC) for medical treatment. As her condition deteriorated, doctors at the health facility referred her to Digapahandi Community Health Centre (CHC) for advanced medical care, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Upon receiving information from the locals, Pudamari outpost police reached the spot and initiated a probe. However, the identity of the attackers and the reason behind the physical assault on the Plus II student remain unknown so far. Sources said that further inquiry is underway to establish the facts and bring those responsible to justice.

Police team has been verifying the available footage of CCTVs installed at nearby areas. No comments were received either from the victim girl or local police in this regard.

Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident, a student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla had been arrested on charges of assaulting a female student, police sources said on December 5 last year. The accused was taken into custody after an FIR was lodged with Burla police alleging that he had physically assaulted the victim.

The varsity authorities had previously suspended the male student in connection with the incident. The matter was then handed over to Internal Complaints Committee.
