In a major case of job fraud, police arrested a man in Sambalpur on Sunday, for allegedly duping job aspirants of over Rs 8 lakh on the pretext of providing employment as Home Guards.
The accused has been identified as Dilip Sahu of Tarbhati area under Dhanupali police limits in Sambalpur. He was arrested by Dhanupali police following complaints from the victims.
According to reports, Sahu allegedly collected Rs 8,36,000 from as many as six candidates belonging to the Jujumura block area, promising to secure them jobs as Home Guards. However, after the written examination results were declared, the candidates found that their names did not appear on the selection list.
When the aspirants demanded their money back, the accused reportedly failed to return the amount. Left with no other option, the victims approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and further action is underway.
“The accused duped Rs 8,36,000 from as many as six candidates in Jujumura area by giving them false job assurances. However, when the written results of the Home Guard examination was declared, the candidates found that their names did not appear on the selection list. When the aspirants demanded their money back, the accused refused to return the amount. Following the development, the candidates lodged an FIR at the police station. Subsequently, a case was registered and Dilip Sahu was arrested,” said Sambalpur Additional SP Ajay Kumar Mishra.
