A woman claiming to be a volunteer was arrested by Khandagiri police on Saturday in connection with an alleged job fraud case.
The accused, identified as Sureshwari Jena, was taken into custody following allegations that she duped several job aspirants on the pretext of providing employment.
Police said a case had been registered at Khandagiri police station after multiple complaints were received against her. In the present case, the alleged fraud amount is estimated to be between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh. However, investigators suspect that the total cheating could run into several crores of rupees.
Arrest After Bail Rejection
A police team apprehended Jena from Keonjhar. Prior to her arrest, she had approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the case.

After her bail plea was rejected, police proceeded with her arrest in accordance with the court’s directions.
Allegations of Large-Scale Cheating
According to police sources, the accused allegedly promised jobs to multiple individuals and collected money from them under that pretext. Authorities are examining financial transactions and the number of complainants involved.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the alleged fraud.
