In view of the upcoming Diwali celebrations, the School and Mass Education Department of Odisha has announced a two-day holiday for schools all across the state.
According to the official notification, schools will remain closed on October 20 and 21 to allow students and staff to celebrate the festival of lights with their families. The announcement applies to both government and govt-aided schools under the department’s jurisdiction. The department has urged all educational institutions to adhere to the holiday schedule.
Earlier, the holiday was declared only for October 21. An additional holiday was declared for 20th October today for all the govt and government-aided schools. Meanwhile, the holiday on 21st October will remain in effect as earlier notified. Accordingly, there will be holidays on both 20th and 21st October.

All schools under the jurisdiction of the department are advised to observe this holiday and make necessary arrangements accordingly. Parents and guardians are requested to take note of the closure and ensure the safety and well-being of students during the holiday period.
Students and staff across educational institutions are advised to take note of the closure and plan accordingly. This holiday is granted to allow students and staff to participate in the traditional festivities associated with the festival.
This move is expected to bring festive cheer to lakhs of students and teaching staff across the state.
