Odisha CM Mohan Majhi pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day

The state of Odisha solemnly observed Martyrs’ Day on Friday, marking the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. On this occasion, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, remembering his ideals of truth, non-violence, and selfless sacrifice for the nation.

The state-level observance of Martyrs’ Day and Gandhi’s death anniversary was held with dignity and reverence. The Chief Minister offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and expressed deep respect for his timeless values, which continue to guide the nation even today. He highlighted the importance of following Gandhiji’s principles in building a peaceful, just, and inclusive society.

“Today, the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation is being celebrated as Martyrs’ Day. On this occasion, I pay my respect to the Father of the Nation, the symbol of Truth, Justice, and Ahimsa. His life journey will always be our source of inspiration and guiding light in our lives,” stated CM Mohan Majhi.

Floral Tributes

A special programme was organised by the Odisha Legislative Assembly to commemorate the occasion. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the ceremony along with Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Speaker of the Assembly Surama Padhy, and Deputy Speaker Bhabanishankar Bhoi. The dignitaries collectively paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, reflecting unity and reverence for the Father of the Nation.

As part of the programme, the police force paid homage to the martyrs, honouring those who laid down their lives for the country. A ceremonial salute was offered as a mark of respect to the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and national heroes.
