In a shocking and tragic incident, the body of a newly married woman was found hanging under suspicious circumstances in Odisha’s Jajpur district, sparking serious allegations of harassment and murder from her family members.

The incident was reported from Kapila village under the Alaguntha police limits. The deceased has been identified as Santoshi Panda, who had recently married Satyabrata Tripathy of the same village. Her sudden death has left the local community in shock.

According to sources, Santoshi was found hanging inside her in-laws’ house. Soon after the incident came to light, her family members rushed to the spot and alleged that she had been subjected to continuous mental harassment by her in-laws since her marriage. They have accused the family of abetting her death and suspect foul play, claiming that she may have been mentally tortured and possibly murdered.

At the time of the incident, Santoshi’s husband was reportedly in Nagaland for work. However, her family has demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation, insisting that all possible angles, including dowry-related harassment and domestic abuse, be thoroughly examined.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death. Authorities stated that they are probing the matter from all perspectives and are awaiting post-mortem findings and further evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation is currently underway.
