In a case of deliberate arson, unidentified miscreants allegedly set a car ablaze at Brajarajnagar camp in Jharsuguda district late on Saturday night. The incident took place at premises in Loisingha village, where several vehicles, including trucks and tractors, were parked.
According to reports, the SUV belonged to a local businessman in the area. He had kept the vehicle parked inside the camp as it was the designated parking place. Around midnight, the miscreants entered the site, locked the outer doors of the guard cabin from outside, and then set the vehicle on fire before fleeing the spot.
Security Guards Alert Owner, Fire Engulfs Vehicle
Sources reported that two employees who were on night duty in the camp noticed the fire and immediately called the car owner, who rushed to the scene and unlocked the doors from outside to rescue the guards trapped inside the cabin.
He then attempted to douse the flames using water. However, by the time help arrived, the blaze had completely engulfed the vehicle.
The fire services team later reached the spot and extinguished the fire, but the car had already been reduced to charred remains. The surrounding trucks and tractors were, however, not affected due to the quick containment.
Police Registers Case And Checks CCTV Footage
Following the incident, the car owner lodged a written complaint at the Gandhi Chhak Police Outpost. Reports added that police officials visited the site early in the morning and conducted an initial investigation. CCTV cameras installed near the camp are now being examined to identify the culprits.
A police official confirmed that a formal case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway to establish the motive behind the act.

No Clarity On Motive, Investigation Continues
Preliminary findings suggest that the arson was deliberate. However, no evidence has yet indicated whether it was an act of personal enmity, vandalism, or a planned attack. The police are also collecting inputs from nearby locals who reportedly saw suspicious movements near the camp before midnight.
Notably, the police have no clue or trace of the individuals despite several CCTV cameras being present along the parking entrance and the road leading up to it. As of the last reports, all the accused remain unidentified and absconding.
