The brutal rape and murder of a ten-year-old student has shaken Chandbali and triggered widespread protests across Bhadrak district. From Baliapal to Chandbali, residents have staged demonstrations demanding justice for the grieving family and warning that illegal liquor and drug sellers will not be tolerated in the area.
Based on the complaints received, the administration on Wednesday took action and carried out eviction drives to remove the unauthorised shops. Officials said the steps were taken to address public grievances and to curb illegal activities reported from the area.
According to the complaints, the evicted shops were allegedly involved in the unlawful sale of intoxicating substances. Residents had repeatedly raised concerns over the impact of such activities on public order and safety, urging authorities to take strict action.
Responding to these allegations, the administration initiated eviction proceedings and cleared the illegal establishments from the area.

Agitated Protesters demand justice
“A ten-year-old student was raped and murdered yesterday. Demanding justice for the victim and her parents, people from Baliapali, Chandbali and Bhadrak have come together to stage protests. Those involved in selling liquor, opium and ganja will be driven out of this area,” said one protester.
Another protester said, “This is a deeply tragic incident for the Chandbali area. The manner in which the girl was raped and dumped in the jungle is shocking. Such crimes are committed by people under the influence of intoxicants. Habitual drinkers carried out this crime and killed an innocent child. It is an extremely unfortunate incident.”
The body of the 10-year-old girl was recovered yesterday from a dense forest under the Chandbali police station limits.
According to information, the minor had left home after informing her family that she was going to school. When she failed to return, her family members searched for her, following which her body was found in the forest.
Police have arrested the prime accused in the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the Chandbali police station area of Bhadrak district.
