Minor girl kidnapped, thrown into river after brutal rape in Odisha

Days after the horrifying Baligaon case, a minor girl from the same area was allegedly kidnapped and brutally raped before thrown into a river in Chandbali of Odisha’sBhadrak district. 

The matter came to the fore after the rape survivor’s mother lodged a complaint with the Chandbali police station. Reports indicate that the accused is a married man.

Based on the complaint, the police have arrested the accused and sent him to court, confirmed the Additional SP. 

According to the complaint, the minor girl went missing on the 24th of last month. Her mother had also filed an abduction case at the police station.

After an intensive search, the girl was rescued from the bank of the Baitarani river in a critical condition and admitted to a hospital. She is currently undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where her condition remains critical.

"Earlier, we had received a complaint about the kidnapping of the minor girl. Later, the minor was rescued and admitted to the hospital. Based on the statement of the girl, the accused has been arrested and forwarded to the court. The minor girl is now undergoing treatment at the hospital," said Bhadrak Additional SP Arup Abhishek Behera.
