Bhadrak minor girl ‘rape and murder’ case: Prime accused nabbed, locals stage protest demanding justice

Police have arrested the prime accused in the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the Chandabali police station area of Bhadrak district. The accused was detained by police from Jagatsinghpur and brought in for further investigation.

Meanwhile, a sniffer dog squad and a scientific team have been deployed at the crime scene to carry out a detailed investigation. Tension continues to prevail in the area as angry locals staged road blockades at three locations, burning tyres and demanding justice.

Roads were blocked at Hatapadi, Madhubabu Chhak and the bus stand by agitated residents. Protesters also barged into the Chandabali panchayat office located near the spot where the body was recovered.

The body of the 10-year-old girl was recovered yesterday from a dense forest under the Chandabali police station limits. According to information, the minor had left home after informing her family that she was going to school. When she failed to return, her family members searched for her, following which her body was found in the forest.
